English Announcements - September 24, 2023

1.     A reception will be held at 12:30pm today at the church basement, after the Installation Service for Ps Andy & Ps Michelle. Please join us if you can!

2.    The EMC is meeting later today at 1:30pm. Please pray for our English Ministry leaders as they discuss future ministry directions.

3.    The Thanksgiving Joint Service will take place on Sunday, Oct 8 at 11:00am in the Cantonese Sanctuary. Praise the Lord, Marine Jim from the Cantonese congregation will be getting baptized on Thanksgiving Sunday and there will be a love feast after the service as a celebration. The cost of the meal will be $15/adult; $10/youth from age 12-5; and free for children under the age of 5. Please contact Jasmine for registrations before the end of today, Sep 24.

4.   Newbern Safe Ministry Webinar: Please note that this webinar has been rescheduled from Sep 30 to Saturday, Dec 2, 2023, at 3-5 pm. Details and poster to come.

5.    This month we are sending our financial support to CCACA and JPQ (CCM Cananda). The updated profiles and prayer requests of CCACA will be posted on WhatsApp and later on our website. Please contact Ps Arthur if you wish to know more information about JPQ.

6.    Ps Marcus will be out of office from Oct 2 to 18; and the church office will be closed on Oct 3 in lieu of Truth & Reconciliation Day holiday.

7.    Friendly Reminder – With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we encourage church members to please wear face masks during gathers and services; as well as to get a vaccine booster, for the health and safety of our brothers and sisters.

2024-2025 Additional Elders Election

1.    Praise the Lord! After prayer and discussion, the candidates who have accepted the Elder nominations by the Nominating Committee are Roger Hiew, Kenny Kan & Jessica Yuen. Nomination from the congregations is commenced now. Any qualified candidate can be nominated by two church members. All nominated candidate and the two nominating members have to sign the form and submit to Pastor Marcus by Oct 8. The qualified Elders candidate list is distributed today, along with the nomination form.

2.   A full list of nominees for the 2024-2025 Elders will be announced on Oct 15.

3.   A special members meeting for electing additional Elders for 2024-2025 will be held on Oct 29. (The three candidates with the highest votes, who are selected by more than 50% of the votes, will be Elders for 2024-2025.

4.  Please pray for the election and may God call for His servants to serve our church.

English Announcements - September 17, 2023

1.     Welcome – A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Rev. Ralph Hardy! Thank you, Ps Ralph, for sharing God’s word with us today! And welcome to our new pastors, Ps Andy and Ps Michelle, on this their first Sunday of their new roles.

2.    The Church Library is reopening today and refreshments will be provided at 12:15pm in the church basement.

3.    Mandarin Small Group will be meeting today at 1:30pm in the church basement. Please feel free to join them if you are interested.

4.   Exciting News! Introducing our Brand New Youth Group for Grades 6-9! Join us as we kick off on Friday, Sept 22, at the church from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Get ready for monthly meetups filled with fun, learning, and camaraderie. Have kids or friends in this age group? Extend the invitation and be part of this amazing journey. For inquiries or to express interest, please contact Joyce. Let's make this a memorable experience for our youths!

English Announcements - August 27, 2023

1.     Welcome – A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Pastor Brian Ho! Thank you, Ps Brian, for sharing God’s word with us today!

2.    Mission Department Announcements:

·     This month we are sending our financial support to Equip to Serve Christian Networks and Union Gospel Mission. Their updated profiles and prayer requests will be posted on WhatsApp and later on our website.

·     The Mission Department has decided to cancel December’s STM trip to Panama. Our potential participants are already committed to various ministries and there are too many uncertainties in the planning. Meanwhile, we are looking for new opportunities to participate in local STM trips in 2024. Please pray for God’s guidance.

3.    Installation Service for New Pastors: Ps Andy and Ps Michelle will be officially installed on Sept 24, during the English Service (9:30am). Reception will be held that day at 12:30pm. Please save the date. The English Ministry Committee will have a special dinner meeting at Pastor Marcus' home on Aug 27. Ps Andy will be present to begin connecting with the EMC members. Please pray that God will build up and use this team greatly!

4.   Kids' Ministry: the summer arrangement will extend through September. Children and youths will continue to join the English Service. During the Cantonese Service, simplified children's programs will continue to be provided, subject to the availability of volunteers. New fall term programs will begin in October.

5.    Newbern Academy will hold its celebration lunch and meeting on Sept 10 at 12:30-3:00. All current participants are those interested to participate in the future may sign up with Ps Marcus by next Sunday, Sept 3.

6.   DOTS: Discussion on the Sermon will take place at 11:00 after the English Service, starting next Sunday, Sept 3. Please stay behind to talk through the implications of God’s words highlighted in the sermon, and to pray with and for each other. Let’s grow together in community.
