English Announcements - December 29, 2024

1.     Welcome – A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Rev. Henry Chan. Thank you for sharing God’s Word with us today.

2.    The church office will be closed on Jan 1 for New Year’s Day holiday.

3.    Staff News – Pastor Michelle Yu has resigned from her role as our Pastor of Kids’ Ministry. We are grateful for Ps Michelle’s faithfulness, passion, and devotion to our church. Her last day will be on Jan 13. Please continue to pray for Ps Michelle and Billy as they continue to follow God’s leading.

4.   The 49th Anniversary Joint Service (Jan 5, 2024 @11am) arrangements:

·     Service & Worker’s Installation will be held in the Cantonese Sanctuary;

·     refreshments and cake will be provided in the basement after the service, and there will be a time of farewell and appreciation for Ps Michelle and Ps Karen during refreshments;

·     Children and Youth Sunday school (11:00) will be held as usual;

·     communion will be taken on Jan 12 instead.

5.    Congratulations to our Cantonese members Joshua and Rowan Wong for becoming grandparents! Their son and daughter-in-law, Isaiah and Monika, welcomed their first-born son to the world on Dec 14, 2024.  Baby Theodore weighed 9 lbs 2 oz at birth.  Both mother and baby are doing very well.  May the Lord continue to bless, keep, and guide their family.

6.   The next round of baptismal and membership classes will begin as early as January 19, 2025.  Anyone interested can contact Ps Marcus for details.

7.    This month, we are sending our financial support to Hope India Mission, Pastor Abraham and COCM Canada. The updated profiles and prayer requests of both organizations have been posted on WhatsApp and on our website.

December EB Meeting Highlights:

a.    In 2025, the whole church will promote regular personal devotion, prayer, proportional offering, evangelism, disciple making, and service.

b.   The portfolios of Elders for 2025 were decided: all current Elders will keep their current portfolios, and Elder-elect Sheldon will oversee Children and Youth Ministries.

c.    For Christmas 2025, the English Congregation will hold a Candlelight Service on Dec 20, while the Cantonese Congregation will hold a Christmas Morning Service on Dec 25.

English Announcements - November 17, 2024

1.     Welcome – A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Rev. Andy Beh. Thank you for sharing God’s Word with us today.

2.    To spread the love of God and the joy of Christmas, our church is joining Fraser Lands Church this year to prepare Christmas Hampers for some families and individuals in Lytton. We have pledged 5 hampers and all have already been claimed by Family Fellowship, Club Mid and 3 Life Small Groups.  If you would like to contribute to the cost of the 5 hampers, please contact Ps Marcus or Shirley Tso. Please note that the church will not be able to issue a tax receipt for any donations contributing to the cost of the hampers.

3.    The Mandarin Small Group will be meeting today, Nov 17, at 12:30pm.

4.   This month, the Elder Board will be meeting next Thursday (Nov 21) at 7:30pm, please pray for God’s guidance and wisdom in our church leaders.

5.    The next visit to St Michael’s Centre will be on Nov 24. Please contact Ps Marcus if you are interested in participating.

6.   Please mark your calendars for celebrating Christmas at the Candlelight Service on Saturday night, Dec 14. Details to follow.

English Announcements - November 10, 2024

1.     Elder election:  Both Horn and Sheldon were elected at the Oct 27 membership meeting.

2.    To spread the love of God and the joy of Christmas, our church is joining Fraser Lands Church this year to prepare Christmas Hampers for some families and individuals in Lytton. We have pledged 5 hampers and 4 have already been claimed by Family Fellowship and 3 Life Small Groups.  If you, your family, or your fellowship or small group would like to prepare the remaining hamper, or would like to contribute to the cost of the 5 hampers, please contact Ps Marcus or Shirley Tso.  Each hamper will contain about $120 of gift items, and each group will pack the items in a box and gift wrap it (box and paper will be provided).  All 5 hampers must be collected at church and delivered to FLC before Dec. 1.

3.    The 2025 church calendars are now available! Please feel free to pick one up at the foyer before or after Sunday service.

4.   The EMC will hold a Zoom meeting on Thursday, Nov 14, at 8pm.  Please pray for the old and new members who will be discussing ways to strengthen the English Ministry.

English Announcements - November 03, 2024

1.     Elder election:  Both Horn and Sheldon were elected at the October 27 membership meeting.

2.    Global Care Sunday: The total for all general fund offerings collected from Oct 16-22 was $7346. It will be divided equally and sent to 5 selected Canadian charities as previously announced.

3.    The 2025 church calendars are now available! Please feel free to pick one up at the foyer before or after Sunday service.
