Human beings like to learn and communicate in different ways. Today we want to feature the real-life story of one of our members Erica and how her thoughtful personality and gift in creating felt art glorifies God! Erica volunteers in Newbern’s Children Ministry and is an ECE. In her job and at Newbern, there is a special time where all the children gather for what we know as circle time. During circle time kids will be exposed to songs and stories along with various movement or relaxation activities helping them develop their listening and oral skills.

Erica quickly realized by creating felt art she can better illustrate her stories and gather the attention of the children during circle time. We encourage Newbern members to be thoughtful and creative when spreading the good news and serving others. For Erica she works with small children, so she looked to their needs making additions to help them better learn and understand. For believers in the same way we should be attentive and adaptable when leading others especially non-believers. We should take the time to get to know our audience and how they may learn best. Take more time to think when you are planning singspiration, when you are making your lesson plan for Sunday School or Fellowship etc.

There is no single formula to share the gospel as everyone thinks and accepts things differently. We just believe by taking the extra steps to better understand one another, it will only put you in a better position to start the conversation about faith. Lastly, putting the needs of others ahead of your own agenda and preference only reflects a more godly character because when we serve we are not putting on a performance to display our talents we are utilizing our talents to better serve others.

For Erica it is her thoughtful personality and talent in creating felt art, for others it will be something else just know that God wants to use you to spread the good news. Let us answer His call!
