Announcements - July 10, 2022

1.       Welcome - A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Rev. Sam Lim! Thank you, Rev. Sam Lim, for sharing God's Word with us today!

2.      Pastoral News – Pastor Joe is away until July 29 with the CCACA. He is still available through WhatsApp/Zoom during the time.

3.      Coffee and Fellowship Time - Started from last Sunday till August, coffee and fellowship time takes place each Sunday at 9:00 am and 12:15 pm on a trial basis. Please plan on using these time slots to connect with new and old friends over hot drinks and snacks.

4.     Church Summer Camp - Please pick up the essential "things to know" from the church entrance if you are going to Summer Camp. For those who are not, English Service will be cancelled next week, both in person and on Facebook.

5.      Children Sports Camp - will be held at Riverway Sports Complex on July 25 - 29, from 9 to 3. The camp is for kids ages 5-12 and the cost is $150 per child, if financial support is needed, please reach out to Pastor Marcus. Registration is now live through the AIA link:  aia.sh/riverway.

6.      The Baptismal Class - we are accepting applications for baptism. The baptismal class will begin soon. Please contact Pastor Marcus for more details.

7.      Church Summer BBQ/Outing - Our church BBQ/outing will be taking place on Saturday August 6th at a local regional park (location will be confirmed shortly). The event will be from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The cost is $15 for adults, $12 for children ages 5-12, and free for children under 5. Registration will open next week, so be sure to register to join us for a day of games, prizes, food, and more!

Announcements - July 3, 2022

1.       Pastoral News –

a. Pastor Joe is away until July 29 with the CCACA. He will still be available through WhatsApp/Zoom during the time.

b. Pastor Marcus will be away in Edmonton from this Monday to Friday, representing the church at the CCACA AGM and the Alliance Canada General Assembly.  He will check WhatsApp and email messages between meetings and respond to urgent matters ASAP. Alternatively, contact Elder Ivy for any urgent matter. Please pray for God’s work among all the church leaders across the country.

Highlights from the Elder Board meeting in June

a.      The church began Stage 5 of our reopening plan on July 1. Masks is recommended and not mandatory. Food sharing activities of up to 20 people begin with precautions in place. (The Elder Board will decide on a case-by-case basis for events exceeding 20 people.)

b.      The Board has adopted the vision statement for global mission proposed by the Mission Committee: “To help members of Newbern to fulfill the Great Commission around the world.”

c.      Pastor Joe’s contract as our interim English Pastor has been renewed to the end of October, with July being no-pay-leave for CCACA work.

d.      Start from this Sunday till August, coffee and fellowship time take place each Sunday at 9:00 am and 12:15 pm on a trial basis. Please plan on using these time slots to connect with new and old friends over hot drinks and snacks

2.      Membership News - Sister Hu Yu from the Cantonese congregation passed away on June 16. May God comfort her family as well as brothers and sisters in this time of grief.

Announcements - June 19, 2022

1.       Father’s Day Blessings - Happy Father’s Day! Our children will have a performance and we have prepared a gift for the dads and husbands attending our Sunday gatherings.

2.      Pastoral News - Pastor Joe will be away from June 27-July 29 with the CCACA. He will still be available through WhatsApp/Zoom during that time.

3.      Summer Camp 2022 will be held in-person at Summit Pacific College on July 15-17. This year’s theme is “Creation and the Good News of Jesus Christ,” featuring Rev. Dr. Jonathan R. Wilson as our main speaker. The camp fee is $160 for youths and adults, and $140 for children from age 3-10. The registration deadline is June 19 (today)! The registration form has been posted on WhatsApp. Please register!

4.     Children Sports Camp - We are excited to announce that Newbern is once again partnering with Athletes in Action and a few other local churches to host a multi-sports kids camp this summer! The camp will be held at Riverway Sports Complex on July 25 - 29, from 9 to 3. Kids at the camp will learn different skills, sports, and games throughout the week. The camp is for kids ages 5-12 and the cost is $150 per child, if financial support is needed, please reach out to Pastor Marcus. Registration is now live through the AIA link aia.sh/riverway.
