Announcements - March 20, 2022

1.       In-person Sunday Service - Please register for upcoming Sunday services on the signup sheet provided through the WhatsApp chat.

2.      Lent - Lent is taking place from March 2 to April 14! We encourage you to consider fasting this year. If there are any prayer or support requests, contact Ps Nathan or Ps Marcus.

3.      Devotional weekend - devotional meetings will take place on Friday, March 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 27 during our regular worship service in the sanctuary. Pastor Joe Chan will be our speaker. We invite you to come with an open heart to hear the Holy Spirit.

4.      GROW - Interested in learning more about social justice or church unity? Come join Pastor Joe as he leads a team from our church to attend GROW. GROW is a discipleship conference organized by Mission Central, formerly known as Missions Fest. It will be held in person on Sat, April 2, 2022, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The first 10 people who register with Pastor Nathan by Mar 27, will have their $10 tickets covered by the church. Don’t miss this chance to interact with other likeminded young adults in the city and prepare to make a difference in the post-pandemic world.

Announcements from The Elders Board

a. The Elder Board has decided to lift the remaining restrictions in 3 stages in the next three months.  Starting Sunday, April 3, we will no longer restrict the number of attendees or do pre-registration and entry screening.  Masks are still required until May 1.  Restrictions on food sharing, close physical contact, and request for COVID self-reporting remain in place until June 5. More details to come.

b. The nominees for the NC are: Tommy Shum, Joyce Yue, Daniel Chin, and Richard Lai.  Two among these four candidates will be elected at the AGM.

c. The Board of Elders encourages everyone to consider donating to the Alliance Canada for relief work among the refugees from Ukraine.

d. Please register for the March 27 Farewell Gathering for Pastor Nathan and Christy as well as the AGM by today (Mar. 20)!

3.      The 2021 Annual Report has been posted on WhatsApp.  Hardcopies are also ready for pick up at the church.  There are enough copies for each active member.  Please pick one up and read it in preparation for the AGM on Mar. 27.

a. Please send your completed and signed nomination forms for the Nominating Committee to Pastor Marcus by today (Mar 13).

b. The Board of Elders encourages everyone to consider donating to the Alliance Canada for relief work among the refugees from Ukraine.

c. Registration for the March 27 Farewell Gathering for Pastor Nathan and Christy as well as the AGM will begin today until next Sunday (Mar. 20). Weather permitting, the Farewell Gathering will begin at 12:30 pm on the church lawn, and will include lunch boxes for registered attendees (by freewill offering). Attendees can bring their cards or love gifts to give to Pastor Nathan and Christy, and will have time to share words of encouragement to them. The AGM will be held afterward in the English Sanctuary at 2:00 pm. Out of an abundance of caution, attendees may need to show their vaccine card at the door if we have more than 60 people. Thank you for your understanding and readiness.

3.      Baby Dedication - There will be a baby dedication ceremony during this Easter's Joint Service, along with the baptism and membership transfer ceremonies. Baby dedication is a ceremony that expresses the believing parents' commitment to raise their children in the way of the Lord. To apply or to find out more, please contact Pastor Marcus.

Announcements from The Elders Board

a. The process for the election of the 2023-2024 Elders begins today. Details for the procedure was posted on WhatsApp last week. The active members list and nomination forms for the nominating committee are being distributed this weekend. The first step is to nominate eligible members to serve as membership representatives on the Nominating Committee. Nomination forms must be given to Pastor Marcus Tso by March 13. Candidates must be nominated by two church members with joint signatures, and the approval and signature of the Candidate.

b. The resumption of in-person gatherings began in two stages on yesterday with up to 10 people in each meeting space, and up to 60 people starting March 13. Details have been posted on WhatsApp and the church website.

c. A Farewell Gathering for Pastor Nathan and Christy will be held at church on March 27, 12:30 pm.

d. The AGM will be held in the English Sanctuary on March 27, at 2:00 pm.
