English Announcements - September 1, 2024

1.     Staff News – The church office will be closed on Sept 3 (Tue), in lieu of Labour Day Holiday.

2.   Safety & Risk Management Training – For those who have signed up, the training will take place today at 12:30pm in the basement.

3.   2024 CCC Winter Conference will be happening on Dec 27th-31st at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel. Theme: Living in God’s Presence. English Speaker: Rev./Dr. Ken Shigematsu. 4.   Newbern’s Youth Group is going to kick off again this Friday Sept 6th at 7:30pm. Youth between the ages of 12-18 are all invited to come to this kickoff. Can’t wait to see you there!

5.   This month, we are sending our financial support to Equip to Serve Christian Networks and Union Gospel Mission (UGM). The updated profiles and prayer requests of both organizations will be posted on WhatsApp and on our website.

July EB Meeting Highlights:

a.   The Board has reviewed and approved the Offer to Lease drafted by our agent, to be sent to the daycare operator.

b.   The Board has decided to start recruiting an ad hoc committee to work on several possible projects related to Newbern’s 50th Anniversary in 2026.

c.   The Board has decided to direct the Capital Committee to prepare a feasibility study and budget proposal for installing air conditioning for the new building, among other capital projects they are working on.
