1. Welcome - A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Rev. Joe Chan! Please pray for him and his family as they serve the Lord and His people. Thank you, Rev. Joe Chan, for sharing God's Word with us today!
2. Devotional Weekend - Please join the Solemn Assembly starting at 11:00am today. There will be an important special announcement during the Solemn Assembly. The Zoom link will be provided on WhatsApp. Please prepare to attend. Dates for the English weekend will be announced later.
3. Membership News - Kelvin (brother to Justin Chu) and his families welcomed their baby girl, Stephanie, into the world on January 14. Congratulations to their family! Pray for them as they adjust to the growth in their family!
4. December Offering Record - The offering record is posted at English WhatsApp Group. Please verify your offering record. If there are questions or change of personal information, please contact Alan Yu or Serena. Because we will issue a 2021 offering receipt for everyone to file tax returns.
5. The Baptismal Class - Baptism applications and classes are under way! If you are interested in getting baptized this Easter, please contact Ps. Nathan.
6. Drawing Contest - Help us design our new garden! For ages: 2 to 13 years old Rainbow Garden Planter Design Contest. Deadline: Feb 13, 2022 (Sunday). Submit to info@newbern.bc.ca. Any questions you can contact Elder Alan Yu. Top 3 winners will win a gift card. All participants will receive a token of appreciation for participating.
Special Announcement from The Elders Board
1. Please welcome Emmanuel Tsui into the Newbern family as a new member! Emmanuel's membership transfer has been approved by the Elder Board on Jan. 18.
Highlights from the Elder Board meeting in January
a. The suspension of in-person meeting at church has been extended to the end of February, to be reviewed at the next Board meeting on Feb 15. Meanwhile, English ministry will explore safer alternatives for meeting in person, such as outdoor.
b. The church will hold an election for two additional Elders this year. Detailed procedures and schedule to come.
c. The Building Fund will be closed ASAP after its surplus is transferred to the General Fund; and part of the surplus from the General Fund will be transferred to Mission Fund to offset its 2021 deficit.
