English Announcements - April 28, 2024

1.     Our STM team is going on a day-trip outreach event at Lytton BC on Saturday May 18, in partnership with Fraser Lands Church. Please pray for all the participants from both churches and the people they will serve, and for their orientation meeting next Sunday, May 11. We are collecting functional mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones, to bring to the people in Lytton. Please reset any item you wish to donate and bring them to Ps Marcus on Sunday May 12.

2.   Cantonese worship at SMC is taking place this afternoon. Please pray that God will use those who go to touch the lives of the residents.

3.   The EMC will be having their monthly meeting this afternoon, please pray for wisdom in our ministry leaders.

4.   Focus Fellowship is collaborating with Lord’s Love Church to hold a joint worship night. We invite you all to join us or to invite your friends to this exciting event, details as follow:

a.   Clarified the plan of a Summer Kids’ Camp

b.   Discussed the possible replacements of projectors

c.   Decided to remind the congregation the following: “Please note that not all pastors are full time and the number of working hours of each staff differs. Please approach the next available staff member or elder for assistance on pressing issues.”

English Announcements - February 25, 2024

1.     Welcome – A hearty welcome to our guest speakers Daniel & Carla. Thank you for sharing God’s Word with us today.

2.    Today is the second Sunday of Lent. You are encouraged to consider some form of fasting during this period, either individually or with a group of friends!

3.    The process for the election of two 2025-2026 Elders begins today. The first step is to nominate eligible members to serve as membership representatives on the Nominating Committee. Nomination forms are being distributed today and must be given to Ps Marcus by March 10th. Please refer to the details for the procedure that was posted on WhatsApp, and contact Ps Marcus for any questions.

4.   2023 Donation Receipts will be distributed at the back of the sanctuary today after service, and will be mailed out after March 3rd. Please contact Roger Hiew if you have any questions.

5.    There will be an event in collaboration with Fountain Theatre on Saturday, March 16th, at 7pm in the English Sanctuary. This will be a Cantonese only event, please invite anyone you know who would be interested. For details, please see the posters.

February EB Meeting Highlights:

a)   Approved Pastor Arthur moving his vacation to March 3-24.

b)  Confirmed that the AGM will be held on Easter Sunday, Mar 31, at 9:30 am.

c)   Changed the Chinese name of the Mission Department to avoid confusion and to be more consistent with current usage. The church will update all future references to “mission” accordingly, including on our new offering envelopes and in our budget and financial reports, etc.

English Announcements - February 18, 2024

2.    Today is the first Sunday of Lent. You are encouraged to consider some form of fasting during this period, either individually or with a group of friends!

3.    Mandarin Small Group will be meeting today at 12:30pm at church.

4.   The church office will be closed on Tuesday, Feb 20th, in lieu of Family Day Holiday.

5.    Mission Week events are happening next weekend! Registrations to the S.E. Asian-themed dinner on Feb 24th is already closed, but we still encourage all fellowships to change their activities next week to join the sharing, which will take place at 7:30pm at church after the dinner.

English Announcements - February 11, 2024

1.     Lent will begin this week on Ash Wednesday, Feb 14th. You are encouraged to consider some form of fasting during this period, either individually or with a group of friends!

2.    Mandarin Small Group will be meeting next Sunday, Feb 18th at 12:30pm at church.

3.    We are excited to announce that this year’s Mission Week will feature a young missionary couple working in creative ways to bring the good news of Jesus to the victimized in S.E. Asia. We have been supporting them financially since last year, and now we finally get to meet their family of three in person! On Sunday, Feb 25th, the couple is scheduled to preach together in both services. We also planned a S.E. Asian-themed dinner which will be followed by separate meetings in English and Cantonese where the couple will split up to share about their stories and mission work. Details of the meal are as follows:

Date, Time & Location: Feb 24th (Sat), at 6:00pm in the church basement

Cost: Adult $15, Children (5-12) $10, Children (4 or under) free

Payment: Cash or E-transfer to info@newbern.bc.ca

Sign-up: Registration is REQUIRED. Please use the link that has been sent out on WhatsApp and sign up before Feb 17th if you’re interested.
