English Announcements - Nov 27, 2022

1.     Welcome - A hearty welcome to our guest speaker Pastor Leigh McGough! Thank you, Pastor Leigh McGough, for sharing God's Word with us today!

2.   Today is the first Sunday of Advent this year. May the Lord help us to prepare our hearts.

3.   Newbern 47th Anniversary luncheon will be held on Sunday,  January 8, 2023 at 1:30pm at Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant (address: #2216-4500 Kingsway, Burnaby). Registrations are open until Dec 11. After receiving a generous donation from a member covering part of the cost, it will be $15/adult; and $10/senior (over 65) or child (between 3-12). If you need ride arrangements, please let us know upon registration, and please contact Eva for any questions.

4.   Advent is just around the corner and our Kids' Ministry is excited! Starting today, Children's Church (10am) will spend each Sunday of Advent learning about "Clive and Ian's 12 Questions of Christmas" as we enjoy festive theme days, activities, and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Children and Youth Sunday School (11am) will continue as usual. For any question or if you'd like to volunteer please contact Pr. Monique.

5.   Joint Christmas Candlelight Service will be held on Friday, Dec 23, at 7:30 pm in the English Sanctuary. This year’s theme is “Two Babies”. Please invite your friends and families, and pray for the those leading the evening.

6.   Coffee Corner – Please note that Coffee Corner will be cancelled for the month of December.

7.   October Offering Record - The offering record has been posted on the WhatsApp group. Please verify your offering record and contact Elder Alan Yu for any questions.

“Highlights from the Elder Board meeting in October”

 i.   Decisions on the 47th Anniversary Luncheon as announced above.

 ii.   The grand piano in the Cantonese sanctuary is being replaced with a newly donated one. The older piano is available for pick up with the following conditions: (1) the first person to confirm with Daniel Chin a pick-up and delivery time that works for all parties by the end of November will receive the piano; (2) the person receiving the piano will be responsible for the delivery cost; (3) a donation of any amount to the church is recommended for receiving the piano. If no workable request for the piano is received by the end of November, the Board asks Daniel to offer it to other churches through the District Office or to the general public.
