A year after Pastor Karen immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 1974, she received Christ as her Savior at the age of 16. After studying nursing-related programs for several years, she served as a clinical secretary or nurse for about 20 years.
In 1992, she truly accepted Christ again. Since then, she read the Bible diligently and responded to God’s calling to spread the Gospel. In 2009, she responded to God’s calling for full-time ministry and enrolled at Hong Kong Alliance Bible Seminary to complete both her Bachelor of Christian Studies and Master of Divinity degrees in four years. She has been licensed as an Official Worker of the C&MA, and has served in pastoral ministry at Newbern since 2013.
God has always placed the burden of mission in her heart. In 2007, she joined the Newbern mission trip to Panama for the first time, where she felt the call to be a missionary. After that, there has been a chance to travel overseas to different places for mission every year. Until now, her commitment to mission has not changed.
Ps. Karen and her husband Henry have been married since 1982. Her beloved Henry battled with cancer for a few years, and passed into the presence of Jesus on November 12, 2018. She is now temporarily serving online as a missionary worker at Quito Church, Ecuador.
